DISTRICT COURT

The District Court is established by statute in Michigan, and hears certain categories of cases. The most common types of cases to come before the District Court include misdemeanor criminal matters, traffic tickets and other civil infractions, landlord-tenant disputes, and civil actions where the amount in controversy is under $25,000 (including small claims actions). The District Court also conducts preliminary examinations when an individual is charged with a felony. The District Court is served by the Hon. Kim David Glaspie.
